Maintenance Schedule

Your ATV is an important vehicle to you. It's a go-to form of entertainment for riding bumpy trails, hitting the dunes, and maneuvering around obstacles through the woods, so you should do everything you can to make it last as long as possible. Just like a car, things like engine oil filters, brakes, fluids, and spark plugs are all necessary for your King Quad to perform well (or perform at all). If you keep a diligent maintenance schedule, you can get the most out of your four wheeler for years to come. If you have any other questions about maintenance strategies, would like to check out our latest suzuki models, or would like to bring your quad into our service department, ask us at Bellevue Suzuki Kawasaki. We proudly serve Memphis, Bartlett, Jackson, Germantown, and Collierville, Tennessee, as well as Olive Branch and Southaven, Mississippi.
Filters
Oil filters and air filters are two simple yet important parts of your King Quad. Without a functioning air filter, your motor would absorb damaging water, dirt, and other debris that could cost you a lot in repairs. Be sure to replace your air filters when they get too dirty, and when installing a new filter, grease up the part of the filter that attaches to the airbox. This will maximize the amount of dirt it's able to catch, which maximizes engine performance. The oil filter is just as important, because dirty oil is ineffective at lubricating your engine properly. Change the oil filter every time you do an oil change, which should be about every 600 miles, or 100 driving hours, whichever comes first.
Fluids
You probably already understand the importance of changing your oil, but we'll remind you anyway! Old oil gets too thick and burns up, so operating your quad with this old oil can do some serious damage. Change your oil frequently, and also inspect your radiator and brake fluid each time you do an oil change. These fluids don't have to be changed nearly as often as oil, but checking them is very important, because once they get low or dirty, you'll want to change/replace them immediately.
Spark Plugs
Good spark plugs are key to getting a good performance out of your ATV. These parts are responsible for making the spark that creates combustion in your engine, which obviously means that a weaker spark makes for less effective combustion. Changing these can be a little more technical, but still something anyone can do. To replace the spark plugs, first clean dirt around the spark plug base, then disconnect the spark plug cap. Be careful not to damage the spark plug wire though when removing the cap! Then, use a spark plug wrench to remove each spark plug. When the spark plug is out, examine it for corrosion or heavy deposits. If they are good, just put them back in and tighten them, but if they're not, throw them away and replace. To re-install a spark plug, just thread it in with a washer by hand, then tighten the spark plug and connect it with the cap again.
Brakes
Finally, brakes are just as important for your four wheeling experience as any other part of your King Quad ATV. Brakes can be tricky sometimes, so if you've never changed brakes before, it's not a bad idea to bring it into our service department so we can change them properly for you. If you know a little about brakes though, check the brake pads and brake shoes on your quad every 1200 miles or 200 riding hours. If the pads are worn down, they need to be replaced, and your ATV should have a brake wear indicator to let you know when your brake shoes are losing some of their luster.
Keeping these tips in mind, you should be able to do all the maintenance required to keep your King Quad ATV up and running for years to come! Keep an eye on the fluids, filters, brakes, and spark plugs, and you'll get safe and optimal performance every time you ride.
